A bespoke commission at 1155 begins with a conversation and ends with something that could not exist for anyone else. The process is unhurried by design.

Authorship, not customization.

A bespoke commission is not a made-to-order piece with a monogram added. It is a conversation about what you need, what you carry, what materials suit your life, and what you intend to carry for twenty years. One conversation. One proposal. One piece, built for you alone, in materials chosen for you, to proportions we arrive at together.

We do not offer options menus, configurators, or color selectors. If you want to choose a leather from our standard range for a standard design, that is Made to Order. It is excellent work. Bespoke is something different. It begins with a question: what does this person actually need?

Before you inquire.

We do not produce replicas of other makers' work. We do not accommodate timeline pressure. If you need something by a specific date, tell us at inquiry and we will be direct about whether it is possible. We do not revise a proposal on price. The price reflects the material, the time, and the craft. If a commission is not the right fit, we will say so directly and suggest Made to Order instead.

How it works.

Inquiry. Tell us what you are imagining and why. No specs required. Just the idea and the intention behind it.

Consultation. A conversation by phone or in person. We listen more than we talk. No proposal until we understand what you actually need.

Proposal. One written proposal. The piece, the materials, the price, the timeline. Clear and complete.

Commitment. Fifty percent deposit at proposal acceptance. Industry standard for bespoke work. It confirms we are both serious.

Production. One midway update: a photograph of the piece in progress. Then delivery, in person when possible.

Follow-up. A personal note six to eight weeks after delivery asking how the piece is wearing. This is where the next commission usually begins.
